Synopsis

Morning Prayer Over Chesapeake – A Love Story –: is a charming romantic-drama involving two forward thinking, progressive adults, Chris and Megan, whom are best friends in full control of their emotions. Both thought it was perfectly natural that a man and woman could be friends and so, forged ahead as pals. It surprised them both when they independently discovered that they had accidentally fallen in love with each other. The problem? She’s got a serious boyfriend and he’s engaged to be married in six short months. Both had been comfortable playing on the fringes of what they both felt – that is until a fateful day when they both attend a mutual friend’s recital/reception unbeknownst that the other was also present.  As the musical evening proceeds, the beauty of the love of the celebrated by the songs causes Megan and Chris to speculate on their true feelings for each other. It is clear as we observe them that both are independently wondering "what if?" Chris daydreams speculatively about Megan as she smiles several isles and a row away, lost in her own thoughts about Chris. We can hear both their thoughts simultaneously when instantly and involuntarily their souls take flight and pledge their love to each other despite both their conscience objections

At the reception immediately following the concert, both Chris and Megan mingle. It is clear that Megan has no idea of Chris’ presence, nor he hers.

As many in the crowd mingle, introduce, laugh and banter, Chris and Megan in a moment of awkward recognition, randomly lock eyes for the first time. Both wonder if the other knows what has just happened at the recital. Both attempt to cleverly hide their emotions with pure emotional clumsiness. Later, in an already planned and awkward outing together, both continue to pretend the magic never happened. Soon thereafter, their buddyship quickly unravels as both seek to escape the torment of unrequited love.

Exquisitely unique circumstances prevent Chris from breaking off his engagement that is governed by a centuries old family tradition. An equally daunting ghost in Megan’s past prevents her from pursuing Chris. Both wait for a sign from the other that either never materializes or happenstance prevents the other from seeing. Megan decides to quietly escape Chris’ life and when he, unable to find her, creates an excuse to extend his own wedding date as he desperately tries to buy more time. Time passes and Chris slowly retreats to the safety of his fiancée, a woman he loves – but whom he now knows he is not in-love with. Neither Chris or Megan knows however, that fate is not through with them. Megan, under a pen name, authors a book of poems and romantic sonnets titled Morning Prayer Over Chesapeake. Morning eventually falls into Chris’ hands to be edited. She has no way of knowing her present editor and her former soul mate is one in the same. Soon they begin an anonymous relationship via her agent and a clever indirect correspondence in which they touch something in each other. Perhaps they’ll get together, perhaps not – but the unique scenarios and near misses create an unforgettable and emotionally satisfying tale of Love finding its way.
