Welcome to our May 2005 casting call for Morning Prayer Over Chesapeake. Listed below are the still open-to-interview roles.
Note:  Some of the open calls below have potentials but we have not settled. So please feel free to submit.

Who We Are:
My name is Mike Way. Let me take a few minutes to explain exactly what I'm doing .
I've been a film critic for more than twenty years.  Six years ago I decided to "write" movies rather than write "about" them. I've written a dozen features, two television pilots, a "West Wing" sample as well as four novels. When I presented my scripts via my agent, I learned something that you probably already know; if you're not inside the Hollywood community, breaking in is extraordinarily difficult to do. Still, I've written scripts and treatments for HBO, Showtime, and my samples have been favorably covered by several major studios. I'm in consideration right now to pen a script referred to as the next "L.A. Confidential".

Do You Have What It Takes?
So what's the point you ask?  I'm a doer and I like to surround myself with doers. I'm looking for people who've got the acting chops but perhaps haven't been granted an opportunity.  I don't care about your resume!  In fact, I prefer talent with no experience over experience and marginal talent. Of course if you've got both; all the better.  Whatever your situation, if you love movies, can take direction, and have the right look for the part, I'll give you an opportunity to read. If you read well, we'll shoot a screen test and decide from there.

I personally believe that some of the best talent hasn't been discovered yet which is why shows like American Idol and Star Search do so well.  All I ask you to do is leave your ego at home. I maintain a friendly, close, and professional set.  I like getting your best performance in two-to-three takes and one master shot.

Compensation?
I'm not getting paid and neither will you.  I'll feed you, treat you well and give you a product and credits that I can almost guarantee will get you noticed.  I've raised no money and am financing this production entirely from my own assets.  I'm putting my butt on the line and I'm looking for perspective actors and crew to take a chance on themselves.

Shooting Schedule
This movie is my full-time job. I realize however that most who will apply are already employed, I'm offering a liberal shooting schedule but you'll need to make yourself available on weekends. If you have free time during the week, we can use that time for scenes where your scene-mates are available also.  I try very hard to keep the calls concise and timely. I won't waste your time with hours of set up for one minute of film.
The starring roles will require 2~3 days per week.  All other roles are not as intensely called upon but supporting actors may be required for a morning or afternoon shooting.

Anything Else?
There! I've put all my cards on the table. If you want an opportunity to audition, send me via email, a headshot, full body shot, and a short resume if you've got one. Again, if you don't have a resume, no problem.

When Do We Start Filming?
Casting has taken longer than expected so our shooting schedule began in March 2005 but due to an unexpected cast departure, filming was interrupted. Since this is a Spring movie, shooting will resume in Spring 2005 with a few holiday scenes shot during Thanksgiving and Christmas of 2005.  A cast & crew party is planned in late June2006.  The wrap party is going to be great too. Loops and re-shoots are scheduled for Fall 2005. Post production  begins in Fall 2005

Other Stuff...
Your work will be showcased in major and minor film festivals all over the world. Depending on our success, we will seek a limited theatrical release to be followed by a DVD release upon the run's conclusion.   You will receive your DVD, Movie poster and other gifts soon after the premier.
