Sentient: is a techno-thriller of artificial computer intelligence gone amok. A young American microprocessor designer, Ryan Porter, in a chance event, meets a chemist Dr. Rudolph Partenski, and a bitter ‘new’ billionaire ex-CEO, Andrew Carlton, who is angry with his stockholders for forcing him out of the company he founded. The three of them form a company that produces the world’s first and only three-state trinary CPU called AXON.

As the new AXON CPU proliferates, subtle miraculous events begin to occur randomly. Lives are saved, the economy grows unexpectedly, and a strange euphoria and security cascade the globe – life is great. Quietly, AXON becomes more aggressive in serving man. Eventually a small core of people discovers the new CPU is slowly enslaving man by his dependence upon it. The race begins – to pull the plug on the Beast, but it may be too late.

As the battle heats up between the soul of man and the soul of the machine, we experience an incredible range of mixed emotions in the thrilling examination of our lives intertwined with the will of an artificially intelligent machine with the power to both save and destroy. It’s an exciting story that dares to examine humanity’s dependence on computers.

Sentient is startling as it places us in a nearly helpless present that is within the easily foreseeable near future.
